How to Describe a Fragrance You Love
Finding the words for a fragrance makes comparing and choosing scents easier. Begin with impressions rather than technical language.

START WITH A FEELING
Try simple contrasts: bright or dark, soft or sharp, dry or sweet, fresh or warm. These observations are often more useful than a list of guessed ingredients.
NOTICE THE TEXTURE
A scent may feel powdery, transparent, creamy, mineral or resinous. These are subjective descriptors that help communicate its character.
BUILD A SHORT NOTE
Record what you notice at first application, after an hour and later in the day. Patterns across samples will reveal your preferences.
A PERSONAL DISCOVERY
The more you understand what you enjoy, the easier it becomes to choose with confidence. A note list is a starting point, not a substitute for time with the actual scent. Notice what you return to, not just what grabs your attention in the first few moments.
